More casting developments are coming in for Martin Scorsese’s soon-to-be-in-production drama The Wolf of Wall Street, as actor P.J. Byrne has reportedly joined the already star-studded cast. [Deadline]
While Byrne is not exactly a household name, the comedic actor has a lengthy resume. He may best be known for starring in last year’s hit comedy Horrible Bosses (just watch the “Totally Inappropriate Edition” for some added hilarity from the actor). Now, he gets to join another terrific ensemble as “Wigwam” Cohen, a broker who works alongside lead character Jordan Belfort. The Scorsese name is certainly enough to sell this project, however, he’s wrangled together frequent collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio, starring alongside Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Kyle Chandler, and Rob Reiner.
Terence Winter, a writer for both Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos is penning the script, which sees Scorsese out of the Paris train station scene and returning to his beloved New York City. Based on a book about corruption of Wall Street, it also sees the director focusing on a new type of criminal, perhaps a more damaging one than his usual gangsters. The Wolf of Wall Street is currently aiming for a release in 2013, while Byrne will next be seen in the political comedy The Campaign, which comes to theaters on August 10th.
