Director Marc Forster, most recently of Quantum of Solace, is now directing Robert Ludlum’s The Chancellor Manuscript. Ludlum is the author behind the popular Bourne series, and many of his political thrillers have been adapted to the screen. The property, which Paramount paid $4 million for in 2005, is looking at Peter O’Brien to adapt. O’Brien’s screenplay Unlocked was on the 2008 Blacklist.  He is also writing Halo: Reach, a story based on the popular videogame series. The film is about “Peter Chancellor, who turns in a novel about D.C. power brokers who are blackmailed into altering U.S. policies. When some operatives get hold of the manuscript, they think he has uncovered their actual scheme and try to hunt the author down.” Leonardo DiCaprio is likely to star (and produce) the film.

This political thriller sounds more up Forster’s alley, as I was pretty disappointed in his blockbuster attempt with Quantum of Solace. I’m glad they are steering clear of World War Z for now as, after reading the novel, I’m not sure how well that will transfer to film. It also looks like his Disconnect project has been put aside. I’m always down for whatever DiCaprio does and I’m confident that Forster can redeem himself.

What do you think about Forster directing DiCaprio in a Ludlum project?
