The 300 reunion we’ve always dreamed of is finally coming to fruition. After starring alongside Michael Fassbender in Zack Snyder’s sword-and-sandal 2006 actioner, Xerxes himself, Rodrigo Santoro, is set to reunite with the actor on a highly-anticipated project. According to Deadline he has come aboard Lynne Ramsay‘s western Jane Got a Gun, which is currently prepping for a spring shoot.
Based on Brian Duffield‘s Black List script, the story centers on a woman, Jane (Natalie Portman), who contacts an estranged ex-lover (Fassbender) after her husband’s been viciously attacked by his old gang. The two of them come together and fight these criminal confederates, with he teaching Jane in the ways of weapons handling and the art of personal defense — a mentor and protégé relationship, even. Santoro, who recently starred in The Last Stand and has a major role in the prequel 300: Rise Of An Empire, will also be starring alongside Joel Edgerton in the film, playing the character of Fitchum.
In other casting news, director Atom Egoyan has, unsurprisingly, reached out to one of his most trusted actors for a role in his upcoming thriller Queen of the Night. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bruce Greenwood (who has had roles in Egoyan’s The Sweet Hereafter, Exotica, Ararat and even the upcoming Devil’s Knot) will one again team with the director for this project.
Greenwood would be joining Ryan Reynolds, Mireille Enos, Scott Speedman, Rosario Dawson, Alexia Fast and Kevin Durand in the psychological thriller that follows a father (Reynolds), who discovers clues 8 years after his daughter’s (Fast) abduction that suggest the now-17-year-old girl is still alive. Greenwood’s part is only mentioned as one of a “a successful developer,” but this marks another promising role as he straddles blockbusters and independent projects, next being seen in Star Trek Into Darkness.
