Juliette Lewis Circles ‘Osage County’; Molly Quinn In Talks for ‘Millers’; Angela Sarafyan Struck With ‘Paranoia’

I wouldn’t be so foolish as to call the first signs of casting on a film — one which, to boot, hasn’t shot a second — “a career comeback,” but it’s undoubtedly the most relevant thing Juliette Lewis has landed in years. According to Deadline, the Natural Born Killers star has entered discussion to take part in August: Osage County, an Oscar-y stage adaptation that would put her in league with Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, and (possibly) Chris Cooper.

Proper signatures would have Lewis play Karen, the youngest daughter of the central Weston family. John Wells‘ film — itself the big-screen incarnation of an acclaimed play by Tracy Letts — sees this maternal group converge after their father disappears, and portrays how all the appropriate forms of familial anger only come to the surface from thereon out. Streep is locked to play Violet, a feisty and pill-loving patriarch who can’t maintain a proper relationship with her children — another one of whom is Roberts‘ Barbara. Karen — a role originally eyed for Andrea Riseborough — is an engaged woman whose primary concerns center on an upcoming wedding.

Lewis has shown an ability to do some fine work in the past — i.e., no real worries about her casting on my part — and, yes, I still think August: Osage County could do some big things for her sagging career. So long as the movie’s any good, of course.

Next, Variety reports that Molly Quinn (the titular lead of Castle) has been snagged for a role in We’re the Millers. Talks are currently underway with the actress, who would join Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston in Rawson Marshall Thurber‘s comedy of misbehavior.

While Quinn‘s role is unspecified, we’ve still known (for some time) that Millers centers on a marijuana dealer (Sudeikis) who hires people to act as his family, which would allow him to transport 1,000 pounds of pot from Mexico into America. Aniston will play a prostitute going under the guise of his wife; Will Poulter (Narnia) is their “son”; and Emma Roberts was recently mentioned as a candidate for Julia, a runaway given the task of being their faux daughter.

With Kathryn Hahn, Nick Offerman, and Ed Helms also locked to appear, We’re the Millers should commence shooting imminently.

Finally, Deadline also tells us Angela Sarafyan (Breaking Dawn — Part 2, James Gray‘s Low Life) is expected to take a supporting slot in Paranoia. The Robert Luketic film, a thriller of the corporate sort, tells of a young telecommunications employee (Liam Hemsworth) blackmailed into spying on a business rival — the bosses of which are played by Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman — and how all that dangerous business throws things out of order for the young man. Sarafyan‘s character, Alison, is his partner in the high-class espionage.

Richard Dreyfuss, Amber Heard, Julian McMahon, and Lucas Till also star in Paranoia, which is set to open on September 27th, 2013.

Is it interesting to see Lewis grab a relatively high-profile role? What do you make of these other casting choices?
