Just when you thought 3D wizard James Cameron had enough to be getting on with, he adds another spinning plate to his act. After committing to directing another two Avatar films and saying yes to producing two further movies, the Fantastic Voyage for Fox and Guillermo Del Toro‘s At the Mountain of Madness, Deadline has revealed he’s got another project on the cards. Cameron is said to be teaming up with Andrew Adamson to produce a Cirque Du Soleil feature in 3D.

The film is yet untitled, but Deadline have been told that the project will be to film Las Vegas Cirque Du Soleil performances in 3D with the idea of using these images as a backdrop for narrative story.

Adamson, the director behind Shrek and The Chronicles of Narnia is said to be currently filming narrative scenes in New Zealand and apparently he has already worked alongside Cameron to capture 3D Cirque footage. The movie is being financed by Cirque du Soleil but is yet to find a distributor.

Could the mixture of narrative story telling and Cirque du Soleil performances really work?
