‘Iron Man 3’ One-Sheet Plummets; Foes Face Off In New Posters for ‘Jack the Giant Slayer’

If you’re like myself, any item pertaining to Iron Man 3 has trouble standing alone when it, too, acts as a reminder that this film is even happening. That may sound like some kind of cool kid posturing (or whatever you’d call such a statement), but it’s been the whole truth for months — and so it applies to what we have here.

There’s a teaser poster which, like the first preview, continues to play up a darker side to the fun superhero — he’s vulnerable and in pain! It’s all a turn-off, honestly, and the teaser for the teaser (I hate that we live in a world where that’s both frequently typed and widely understood) has that same tone, quickly creating an effect not unlike apathy for yours truly. Tony Stark is snarky and fun to hang out with! Nobody really wants to see him hurl to the ground whilst on fire.

You can see the poster below, followed by that footage (via FirstShowing):

Then again, dark and competent is always better than light and flat. The fairy tale film phenomenon had its way with Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, and, most recently, Hansel and Gretel, and Jack and the Beanstalk is next. The story gets an action adventure twist in director Bryan Singer‘s Jack the Giant Slayer, where the titular hero (played by Nicholas Hoult) battles to save a kingdom from a race of giants. The trailer promised plenty of the colossal villains, a trend that continues in a pair of posters. The last one sheet we covered showed Jack going into the mouth of the beast – literally – but the new designs are a bit more straight-forward.

See below (via Yahoo! and IMPAwards):

Jack the Giant Slayer also stars Eleanor Tomlinson, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane, Bill Nighy, and Ewan McGregor. The film opens on March 1st

Do you think these posters do an adequate job as marketing?
