Right up above, you can see the first official set photo from Skyfall, Sam Mendes‘ long-awaited entry into the Bond series that began shooting today. I joked on Twitter — the very same place the marketing team posted this photo — about how this was merely a fun thing for fans, and not even close to something substantial. But I still appreciate some behind-the-scenes access to a film I’m greatly anticipating, no matter how minor.
Skyfall‘s Twitter account also announced the confirmation of the rumored Helen McCrory and the addition of Ola (ex-husband of Noomi) Rapace to the cast. There’s no indication as to who either will play, but I’ll just throw out the random guess that McCrory is a member of MI6, and Rapace has some kind of antagonistic role. When taking a gander at his physical appearance, he just kind of has the look of a Bond villain. But, hey, I could be entirely wrong.
Starring Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Judi Dench, Bérénice Marlohe, Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, and Ben Whishaw, Skyfall will open on November 9th, 2012.
Any thoughts on this photo? What kind of roles do you think the two recently-cast actors will play?
