You knew it was coming. Whether you liked it or not. But then, that’s not true, is it? Because, if you didn’t like it, the third one wouldn’t have made over $400 million worldwide in its first weekend. So this truly is the gift that keeps on giving.

Even though both the director (Michael Bay) and star (Shia LaBeouf) say they’re out, the franchise will live on. As franchises do. So what will it be? A reboot? A re-prequel-boot? A re-imagining with Megan Fox cast as a hot blonde, er, wait. What’s next?!

From Producer Don Murphy:

What happens next? Certainly not a reboot. We haven’t lost the Transformers. They didn’t grow up or become expensive like Tobey Maguire. I don’t know what happens next. I’m pretty sure there will be a second trilogy. I am pretty sure it will kick ass. And I am pretty sure some of you will hate it because it wasn’t all bots.

While the above bite makes a bit of sense, if the alien robots don’t grow up, then why are some older than others, with beards and gravely voices as if they’ve smoked for 30 years. But enough questions. The damage has been done. And done again. And again. [/Film]

Will you go see the next Transformers trilogy?
