Following the release of perhaps his most divisive film yet, Terrence Malick is still toiling away at not only back-to-back features, but a few side projects as well. We’ve now got our first indication of which one may be done first as the debut still from Knight of Cups has arrived. Reteaming with FilmNation for sales at Cannes, where the first footage will be shown to buyers, THR has our first look. Not far removed from some of the set photos we saw, the still features Natalie Portman and Christian Bale galavanting along the beach.
So far, all we know regarding the plot is Bale plays a depressed writer-type in the story that looks at celebrities and excess. Considering it took 19 months from when we got our first image of To the Wonder until its actual premiere, let’s hope that’s not the case here.
