It’s odd not seeing Michael Bay with Shia LaBeouf and the latest model by his side, but the time has come from him to break apart from the Transformers series before, of course, returning to in the not-so-distant future. He is in Miami on production on his “small” $20 million drama Pain and Gain and we’ve got the first set pictures.
We can see star Mark Wahlberg flexing some muscles, running and chilling with Rob Corddry. Bay has previously said the only action will be one car chase, so the arrival of some police in the photos below hints at more that we’ve come to expect. Either way, despite despite disliking his massive efforts, I think Bay could actually turn out something kinetic if he refrains from the bloated mess he normally churns out. This smaller scale could do the trick and one can check out photos below.
The film involves Marc Schiller (Tony Shalhoub), a Miami businessman kidnapped and tortured by bodybuilders (Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, and Anthony Mackie); Ed Harris, meanwhile, plays the detective chasing them. Other cast members include Bridesmaids star Rebel Wilson and Bar Paly.
Pain and Gain will likely hit theaters in 2013.
