Following the first trailer, the first trailer for Snitch, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is out — and not many surprises are to be found. Based on a true story featured on PBS’s Frontline, Snitch‘s screenplay and directorial duties come from former Hollywood stuntman Ric Roman Waugh, director of Felon (2008). As one can see in the new poster below, Johnson is in his familiar tough-guy pose and we’ve even included another example from one of his previous solo actioners. Despite what the poster may hint at though, this one has a strong supporting cast with Susan Sarandon, Benjamin Bratt, Barry Pepper and Harold Perrineau.

The Exclusive Media Production follows the father of a teenage boy who is unjustifiably accused of drug trafficking.  When the innocent teen faces up to ten years behind bars for a crime he did not commit, Dwayne Johnson’s character reaches an agreement with the U.S. Attorney to go undercover as a ‘snitch’ on a treacherous journey in order to get inside and break up a drug cartel. In the process he puts his family and his own safety on the line.

Fans can expect a nationwide release four months in-a-row in the first half of 2013 from Dwayne Johnson, starting in February, with Snitch out on the 22nd, G.I. Joe: Retaliation on March 29th, Pain and Gain on April 26th and Fast and Furious 6 on May 24th. Empire State, also starring Johnson, is also expected to hit screens in 2013 as well.
