After being on hiatus for a spell, production on the third installment in the Men In Black franchise is kicking back into gear come March 28th. While that’s good news for Barry Sonnenfeld & Co., there’s apparently still a bit of trouble in paradise in the scripting process, and David Koepp is being commissioned to right some wrongs and polish things up [Deadline].

The story involves Will Smith‘s Agent J going back in time to 1969, teaming up with a younger version of Agent K (Josh Brolin), and apparently isn’t as fantastic as some would have us believe.

I loved the first installment in the sci-fi/comedy trilogy, and like most, was sorely disappointed with its follow-up. The prospect of a third film doesn’t exactly make me giddy, and this news definitely doesn’t inspire much more faith. Here’s hoping that Mr. Koepp can put a little bit of oomph back into this outing.

Men In Black III is still planned for a summer 2012 release.

What are your thoughts on David Koepp re-working the script? Are you excited for Men In Black III?
