Although he hasn’t lived up to his debut V For Vendetta, director James McTeigue keeps getting second (and third and now fourth) chances with Ninja Assassin and last year’s The Raven. He’s now lined up his next project, and according to Screen Daily, the odd pair of Clive Owen and Katherine Heigl have joined the action thriller Survivor.

Set for sales at Cannes ahead of a July production, the film will follow a government employee who is stationed at London’s American embassy in London. Following an attack in which the rest of her team is killed, she gets targeted and framed and must go on the run in order to protect another attack.

In other development news, Neil LaBute has found his follow-up to Some Velvet Morning (which just premiered at Tribeca), shifting to thriller territory with the long-in-development The Geography of Hope. Also coming from Screen Daily, the shoot isn’t kicking off until January, but the cast has already been assembled with Ethan Hawke, Vera Farmiga, Emmanuellle Devos and Ed Harris.

Set in the 1970’s, the crime thriller tracks two low-level thieves (Hawke and Harris) who stay out of the radar in a Baja resort following a heist turned wrong. While there they meet Farmiga and Devos’ characters, who are on vacation, and they learn of the mens’ secrets and the tension begins.

Are you looking forward to the above projects?
