After a rough start with films like Extraordinary Measures, Beastly and The Back-Up Plan, CBS Films are finally starting to turn things around. After last year’s Seven Psychopaths and The Woman in Black, they’ve now picked up what is easily their highest profile film yet with Joel and Ethan Coen’s Inside Llewyn Davis, according to a press release.

This won’t be the first time working with the filmmakers, as the distributor also has the Gambit remake they scripted on the shelf. As for Davis, there is no word on when they’ll release the film that follows the folk scene in 1960s New York City, but with the project complete, a Cannes debut is in the cards, which could result in a summer or fall bow.

Bought for just under $5 million for US distribution, the film was financed by their True Grit and No Country For Old Men producer Scott Rudin without a studio. Led by Oscar Isaac and an ensemble including Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Justin Timberlake, Garrett Hedlund and F. Murray Abraham, one can check out the first trailer for the project here as we await a concrete release date.

Is CBS Films a good fit for the film?
