Just when it looked like all was quiet on the western front, the production of Jane Got a Gun has hit another roadblock — but thankfully one less serious than its previous handful. As it has been well-documented, Michael Fassbender bowed out a few weeks before production began, but Jude Law came aboard, then Lynne Ramsay declined to show up for the first day of production…which resulted in Law leaving. Finally, as Gavin O’Connor took the reigns, Bradley Cooper was hired to fill the villain role.

But this isn’t the end of the story, as Deadline reports that Cooper has had to bow out due to scheduling issues. He even issued a statement, saying, “Regretfully, due to date conflicts between the film I an currently shooting for David O. Russell and Jane Got A Gun, I am unable to join Natalie, Joel, Noah and Gavin on this truly exciting project. I was really looking forward to being a part of it and hope to work with each and every one in the future.”

Producers are already looking at who could fill the role, which includes previously rumored names like Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire, as well as Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tom Hiddleston. This decision doesn’t have to be made until next month, when the villain character’s scenes will be shot, so expect an update in the near future. In the meantime, we sincerely hope someone is filming a behind-the-scenes documentary on this production, as it could very well end up being just as entertaining as the final product.

Who would you like to see replace Cooper?
