With David Ayer‘s box office triumph End of Watch arriving last year, it was no surprise when QED International picked up the rights to the writer-director’s spec script Fury. With the film’s script only purchased back in February for around a million bucks, it would appear that it is on the fast track to being realized, as the WWII film goes into production this September and will star Brad Pitt.

We’ve now got news on when exactly we can expect the film, as Columbia Pictures scooped up the domestic distribution rights, as well as most of the international territories. Revealed in a press release, Columbia president Doug Belgrad said, “We loved the script from the moment we read it. This is epic and authentic storytelling at its finest and we couldn’t be more excited to be in business with David Ayer and Brad Pitt on this incredible story of sacrifice and heroism.”

The studio has now set a release date of November 14th, 2014, squaring off against Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn’s Secret Service, and sandwiched between Chris Nolan’s Interstellar and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, packing the month with potential and competition. Set in April 1945 at the tail end of WWII in Nazi Germany, the story follows Allied troops commanded by a martial army sergeant called Wardaddy (Pitt). As the troops who are outnumbered and outgunned make a last ditch effort to drive their way in the European Theater, a Sherman tank and her crew find themselves tapped behind enemy lines on a deadly mission. Led by Wardaddy, the five-man unit finds the cards stacked against them as the attempt to strike at the core of Nazi Germany.

One can see more of Ayer this January when Ten, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sam Worthington, hits theaters.
