In the world of oft-rumored comedy sequels, there seems to be one connecting tissue: Ben Stiller. As we await updates on Zoolander 2, a sequel to Anchorman is actually nearing completion and now we’ve got word on another hit property featuring the star that’s gaining some traction.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stiller and his company Red Hour Films have brought on Clay Tarver to script a sequel to Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. The 2004 summer hit for 20th Century Fox made well over $150 million worldwide on a reported $20 million budget and we’ve been hearing rumors for some time of this continuation.

Tarver got his start after being involved in the comedy troupe Upright Citizens Brigade, but then jumped to feature film territory with the horror film Joy Ride, which he scripted with J.J. Abrams. As for the sequel, we know that Stiller and Vince Vaughn are set to return and the film will see them team up to battle a new enemy. Although I’d much rather see a Zoolander sequel get some movement, as we await more information, check out a trailer for the original below.
