Since its release in October, Ben Affleck‘s third feature film Argo has continued to defy expectations. The period drama is inches away from crossing the $200 million mark at the worldwide box office and continues to snatch up nearly every major award in sight. The latest nods it secured occured this weekend, where it beat out Beasts of the Southern Wild, Life Of Pi, Lincoln, Perks Of Being A Wallflower and Silver Linings Playbook to pick up the USC Scripter prize.
Awarding the best in adapted screenplay and their source material, Joshuah Bearman (author of the article The Great Escape), Antonio J. Mendez (author of The Master of Disguise), and screenwriter Chris Terrio were all recognized. Then, less than 24 hours later, Affleck picked up Best Picture and Best Director at The British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards.
