The biggest indicator for the Best Director Academy has arrived this afternoon, as the Director’s Guild of America has weighed in on their choices for their 2013 awards. Nominating Ben Affleck, Kathryn Bigelow, Tom Hooper, Ang Lee and Steven Spielberg, the major omissions are David O. Russell for his drama Silver Linings Playbook and Quentin Tarantino, who just became a member of the DGA last year, for Django Unchained, as well as Paul Thomas Anderson for The Master. If we had to guess, we’d say the true race is between Bigelow and Spielberg, but check out more details below and let us know who you think is frontrunner for the award and who you think should be on the list.
