Despite the one-two punch of The Dark Knight Rises and Les Miserables this year, Anne Hathaway was previously not committed to any future live-action roles in 2013. However, after being rumored for some time, the actress has now confirmed her role in Steven Spielberg‘s upcoming blockbuster Robopocalypse.
Speaking with Empire, the actress revealed that if the movie “happens I will be in it and I believe it’s quite real, though you never want to hang your hat on anything.” Although her role in the adaptation of Daniel H. Wilson‘s novel is unknown, she added an amusing story about how her casting came to be, saying, “Whenever I’m taking time off, I always joke to my team that I’m on vacation unless Steven Spielberg calls. And I was on vacation and Spielberg called. So I was like, ‘OK, put my money where my mouth is’.”
When it comes to her Robopocalypse co-star Chris Hemsworth, we’ve got one project to count him out of. Last month it was reported that Hemsworth was lining up the thriller American Assassin, from director Jeffrey Nachmanoff (Traitor) and starring Bruce Willis. Although he was offered a hefty $10 million, the actor had to turn it down due to “timing,” according to Deadline. Considering he has this Spielberg blockbuster and The Avengers 2 lined up to shoot next year, it certainly makes sense.
Robopocalypse, which chronicles robot-human conflict and is written by Drew Goddard, also stars Ben Whishaw and hits theaters on April 25th, 2014.
