This morning we have a few casting announcements, and first up, Wayne Kramer is looking to reteam with his star of The CoolerAlec Baldwin, for a noir mystery thriller. Scripted by David Hayer and coming from Charlie Huston’s novel, THR reports that Caught Stealing will also star Patrick Wilson as Hank Thompson, a once-promising baseball player who turns to alcohol and gets involved in a “bloody treasure hunt” in the city of New York.” Baldwin figures in as a sadistic cop who wants the treasure, along with Russian mobsters, a hit man and leather-bound psychotic brothers. With a mix of dark comedy and thrills, we expect this one will kick off production next year.

Moving to the territory up north, Xavier Dolan may be in the middle of crafting his next feature Mommy, but he’s freed up some time to act in another Canadian production. Global News (via Crave Online) lets us know they he has joined Catherine Keener, Carrie-Anne Moss and Bruce Greenwood for The Elephant Song, which Charles Binamé will direct from a Nicolas Billonplay. The project follows Dolan as a disturbed patient who may or may not be involved in the disappearance of a psychiatrist and gets questioned by the missing person’s colleague, quickly turning into a complex mind game.

In our last update, it looks like Johnny Depp has found time to sneak in another project, even though he’s currently filming Into the Woods and MortdecaiTHR reports that he’ll briefly pop up in the crime thriller London Fields, alongside his girlfriend Amber Heard, as well as Billy Bob Thornton and Jim Sturgess. Based on Martin Amis‘ novel, direction is coming from newcomer Mathew Cullen and the story follows Heard as a psychic who sees her future while going to a London pub. Depp’s role is unknown, but his participation is already in the can and he can next be seen this April in Wally Pfister’Transcendence.

Before we say goodbye, the aforementioned Baldwin has taken part in Seduced and Abandoned with James Toback. Premiering on HBO this week, the project follows the duo headed to Cannes Film Festival and interviewing a variety of subjects, including Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Roman Polanski and more, about the event and their love of the medium.
