‘Blue Sky’s In ‘Rio’ Teased At In Animated Trailer

For the last decade, Blue Sky Studios has (rather quietly) been one of the most formidable animation studios in the game. Their Ice Age trilogy (soon to be quadrilogy with the upcoming Continental Drift) is the second-highest grossing animated franchise ever, behind Shrek.

Now they’ve got Rio, a nice-looking little animated feature about a sheltered Macaw newly out in the world (in Rio, of course) trying to, quite literally, find his wings. Voice talent includes Anne Hathaway, Neil Patrick Harris and George Lopez.

Here’s the trailer (courtesy of Screen Crave, via /Film) below:

The plot of the film and the comedy looks to be on par with the Ice Age films and, you know what, good for Blue Sky. They are, and have been, sticking to their guns for the last decade, and it’s worked. The kids clearly love the stuff, so hey, who can blame em.

What do you think of this trailer? Will you see Rio?

  • Just watched the teaser for this. Wow, I know it's early, but it looks like it will be far and away Blue Sky's best one yet. It was hilarious and even watching it on my 2-D monitor, I was wowed by the flying scenes.
