Though this action film seems to be a long way off, the two leads announced as of yet are worth noting: Jason Statham and Clive Owen.

The name of the film’s The Killer Elite, based on the novel The Feathermen by Ranulph Fiennes.

Here’s the synopsis:

“A group of former British special forces members who are being hunted by assassins. Statham will play a former Navy Seal who is forced out of retirement to save his closest friend.” [The Playlist]

Owen as the close friend seems likely, though it’s hard to say with no more information about the project. It’s been lingering in development hell for some time now.

Hopefully it sees the light of day. Statham may be the only reliable action star working today and Owen is an enigmatic leading man who needs a few solid flicks to pamper his lackluster resume.
