George Lucas’ ‘Red Tails’ Reshoot Details Emerge

George Lucas was reported to be shooting reshoots for the new movie he is producing called Red Tails, which is being directed by Anthony Hemingway. His earlier credits include HBO’s The Wire. The initial reason behind this was because Lucas and producer Rick McCallum were not satisfied with the footage presented.

It turns out this is only half true. Yes, Lucas will be directing the reshoots. Yes, Hemingway was not available to do them himself do to commitments to Treme, a new show set in New Orleans. Yes, this sounds extremely suspect.

Reshoots are not uncommon, especially with period pieces. However, one has to question if there was even an effort to get Hemingway back in the chair. With Lucas’ history it wouldn’t be surprising if he bypassed asking and jumped right behind the camera.

Do you think Lucas will harm the potential of Red Tails? Or are you excited to see him back in the directing chair?
