Universal Considering 3D Remake of Jaws Starring Tracy Morgan?

Oh Avatar. I used to love you, now I don’t know any more. Every day you cause more and more unnecessary 3D remakes and additions to occur. The latest victim? Jaws. A source over at Cinema Blend says Universal Pictures is “strongly considering a remake of the summer blockbuster in hopes of dazzling younger audiences with new special effects.” Their source also says 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan was previously considered for Matt Hopper, previously played by Richard Dreyfuss in the 1975 Steven Spielberg classic.

Just when I thought a Mr. and Mrs. Smith reboot was the stupidest idea of the week, this news break. Tracy Morgan as the lead? Unless they are going for a Piranha 3D route, this is one of the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Of course, it’s just one source and could very well all be bulls*t. The original Jaws is one of my favorite films of all-time and if this gets made, I can throw it in with the rest of the sequels in the franchise to ignore.

Does anyone want to see a remake of Jaws..in 3-D?
