The Visitor and The Station Agent writer/director Tom McCarthy‘s last two films were fantastic. Now, My Jersey Central (via The Playlist) has info about his next film, Win Win. Based on his own experiences as a high school wrestler, the film tells the story of “how a rough-and-tumble runaway changes the lives of a suburban New Jersey family and turns around the luck of a high school wrestling team.” The report is mostly how he is holding open casting class for New Jersey teens to play the lead, Kyle, “who has a kind nature, but also a simmering anger from having been in an unstable and abusive home.” Win Win will be different from his last two projects. It will be a “quicker-paced, light-hearted comedy.” McCarthy said:

It’s still about people and connections, but also accountability and the decisions we make and how we maintain integrity in tough financial times. Wrestling is a sport about survival — it’s more brutal than I remember it being.

The report also highlights that actor Paul Giamatti was with him scouting for actors. While this is not a confirmation that he is in the film, there is a good chance he could have a key role. Check out Dan Mecca’s spotlight on Thomas McCarthy here.

Win Win will start filming for seven weeks in New Jersey and New York this March.
