‘Mortal Kombat’ Reboot On The Way

Warner Brothers Pictures, who have been behind some successful reboots (Batman) and some not so successful ones (Terminator) have turned their attention to the video-game franchise Mortal Kombat, Bloody Disgusting reports.

Oren Uziel, who was responsible for the 2009 Black List hit, Shimmer Lake, is in talks to take the daunting task of turning a rather silly video-game series into a respectable and profitable film franchise. The 1995 Mortal Kombat is a guilty pleasure for many but even its biggest fans can admit to it not being anything approaching a good film. The 1997 sequel, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, is widely considered one of the absolute worst films of the 90′s and killed the series for quite some time. Here is hoping they can do something better than Street Fighter : The Legend of Chun-Li.

Does a Mortal Kombat reboot excite you or is it impossible to make a good film out of the series?

While the first one had a weak plot and poor dialogue, the cool special effects, great martial arts, and an awsome soundtrack for techno music fans made it entertaining and definately worth wathing. The 2nd film was absolutely terrible, one of the worst flicks I have ever seen. Even the fight scenes were stupid.

I know alot of people are insane ........... ? straightup because tha first Mortal Kombat film is umm a good movie yes the second sufferd in alot of ways , and of corse Terminator Salvation was goin to suffer alittle bit it dident even have the Terminator in it ( more or less ) . Lets see how many people go see the next batman film without Batman ?? . im sure after everyone has seen TS they'll agree it was a great film ...

The next Mortal Kombat film just needs good story great character development written into it and not a Special Effects Blowout movie . also releaseing it along side the game will help in movie ticket sales ......
  • Hmm. The old movies sucked, but they were better than every uwe boll movie.
Still, I think this movies should be leaved behind.
