Howard Shore Scoring ‘Twilight: Eclipse’

With its release looming only five months away, post-production for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the third film in the series, is underway and the film’s composer has just been pegged. While the first film was scored by Coen Brothers mainstay Carter Burwell (!), and the second had Alexandre Desplat, neither is the choice for the third installment.

Enter Howard Shore, composer of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and co-writer of the theme for Late Night/The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. He’s also done work for David Cronenberg in the past, so his work should be held in a high regard considering his pedigree.

As a fan of Shore, I’m happy to hear that he’s continuing to get work, even though he’s not really in a financial hole. That said, it shows that talent counts when people like him keep getting work. [/Film, MovieScore Magazine]

What are your thoughts on Shore being chosen to compose Eclipse?
