Joe Carnahan’s ‘A-Team’ Trailer

The trailer for Joe Carnahan‘s (Smokin Aces, Narc) A-Team has (accidentally?) been uploaded online by a Canadian newspaper and was previously only available to those in that country. We at TFS have figured a way around that for the entire world’s viewing pleasure. The film also stars Bradley Cooper (The Hangover), Liam Neeson (Taken), Sharlto Copley (District 9) and Quentin ‘Rampage’ Jackson. Ridley and Tony Scott are producing. Check it out below quickly, as it may get taken down. It’s low quality, but that’s all we have for now. You can also check out the trailer this weekend before Daybreakers.

Plot: A group of Iraq War veterans looks to clear their name with the U.S. military, who suspect the four men of committing a crime for which they were framed.

What do you think of the trailer?

The A-Team hits theaters June 11th, 2010.

Edit: Updated post to reflect Quentin ‘Rampage’ Jackon’s role in the film.

    UPDATE TO MY PREVIOUS POST!

If you notice their red beret patch and look up US Army Special Forces on Wikipedia, you'll notice that it is the patch for the 7th Special Forces Group stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. The various Special Forces Groups get relocated from time to time. The original series focussed on members of the 5th Special Forces Group (an Alpha Unit/Mobile Strike Force/Mike Force) which were stationed out of Fort Bragg, NC at the time. Now the 7th Special Forces reside at Fort Bragg.

OK... Some good news for all you Special Forces fans... Regardless of what's stated in the film, it looks like the creators are keeping true to the original series in a sense. In the courtroom scene you can catch a glimpse of some clues that tell you these guys are in fact "Green Berets".

First, there are the "green berets" that the team is actually wearing (obvious). Second, if you watch closely, you'll see a "Special Forces" pin on the left shoulder as the camera is panning, and finally, and probably the biggest tip-off is the blue spade patch with three gold lightning bolts through the gold sword in the center. That emblem is the insignia for the 5th Special Forces Group, and all of these clues (at various times) have also been present in the original TV series.

Just by those clues alone, it can safely and confidently be assumed that these guys are not just Airborne/Ranger-qualified, but in fact Green Berets in the truest sense. If they weren't, then they wouldn't be sporting the pin, the cap or the shoulder patch, since only members of Special Forces can wear those items.

    Thanks so much for posting!
  • Why does BA have a Ranger tattoo when the A-Team were Special Forces (Green Beret) guys? An SF team is made up of 12 men split into 2 teams- an A Team and a B Team. Hence the name of the TV show. It's possible that BA is both Ranger and SF qualified, but being Green Berets was the premise of the original series. They better not try to make these guys Rangers.

Aloe you are mistaken about the make-up of an SF team, yes there are 12 men, but they are usually not split into two teams...all 12 are referred to as an Operational Detachment - Alpha (ODA or A-team) this separates them from the 12 man support team of SF soldiers called an Operational Detachment - Bravo (ODB or B-team)
  • Rogue, thanks for the clarification. Regardless, they should be SF guys!

i agree Aloe, not to take anything away from Rangers cuz theyr bad ass, my brother was a ranger for 4 years and i wouldnt mess with him, but they shouldnt change the original story, im looking forward to seeing this movie, i just hope it doesnt disappoint me
  • Horrible. Where did you hear that?
  • In The Know
I got bad news Aloe: they're Rangers in this flick and ONLY Rangers.
  • Actually, I was finally able to see the trailer and it looks like Liam is wearing a green beret in one shot. Maybe there is hope.
  • Great point and great catch! As an Army veteran though, I'd bet 90+% of the
SF guys I ever met were also Ranger qualified. I doubt they will switch the
focus of the film to Rangers.

  • True. I'm a vet too(actually went to SFAS as well). Which is why I feel so strongly about it since the A Team was one of the reasons I wanted to be an SF soldier as a kid. Let's hope you're right!
