NBC Universal Takeover via Comcast Possible

NBC

The rumors and speculations have been floating around all day. According to Variety, “change is probably coming to NBC Universal,” quite possibly in the form of a 51% takeover by Comcast, the uber-cable company.

But one must not forget Vivendi, the French conglomerate which still owns 20% of NBC Universal after selling to Generic Electric in 2004. What are they going to do?

All of the answers are currently “no one knows.” Comcast refused the comment on the speculation. Variety is quick to point out that Comcast owning NBC would present several problems, at the forefront being antitrust i.e. one business owning too much of the media.

Until concrete answers, stay tuned.

What do you think is going on with NBC Universal?
