Michael Bay May Have Found His New Project

On Friday in the heat of the Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen release Variety reported that director Michael Bay may have found his next project. DreamWorks is currently attempting to make a deal for the film rights to I Am Number Four which is the first of a six-book science fiction series and they are trying to get Bay to produce and possibly direct. This would allow for another Bay/Spielberg collaberation. “DreamWorks is working on a high six-figure deal, sources said.”

According to Variety “The franchise is about a group of nine earthbound alien teens who escaped their planet just before it was destroyed by a hostile species. While the high school-aged kids assimilate, the title character discovers that he is being hunted by the enemy that blew up his planet.”

Bay apparently shopped the film around to “DreamWorks/Disney, Columbia and Universal; J.J. AbramsBad Robot for Paramount; Bryan Singer for Fox, and BenderSpink for New Line and CBS.” The writer of the novel is James Frey who also authored  A Million Little Pieces. Some might remember the novel from a few years back when it was discovered that some of the events in the novel were actually fiction.

I am pleased but a little saddened at this news. I am a Michael Bay fan and have been following the release of Revenge of The Fallen very closely. In countless interviews Bay has said that he wants to do a small art film next that he stated he has been talking to some big names for. This however doesnt sound like the dark comedy he was talking about. But we will see where it leads.

How do you feel about Bay’s possible next project?

Doesn't sound like it has enough explosions and robots for Bay. Will he have to rely on the plot? Sounds like trouble for him.
