loved the hell out of this movie. I actually really liked all of the musical choices, even Watchtower. I see how you might think it comes out of nowhere, but it actually is in the graphic novel. The only complaint I had with the movie was the ridiculous sex scene that lasted forever.

I for one agree with Chris, jimi hendrix's "watchtower" was definitely not needed to introduce the antarctic scene. Yet I especially liked "sound of silence" during the funeral scene because it is starts mellow but there's some sort of jaunty feel to it which lightens the mood for the viewer making them feel like the death was maybe...just maybe deserved.

You're forgetting the hilarious song choice of "Ride of the Valkyries" for when Dr. Manhattan was coming over the hill in Vietnam. I could believe they did that. I laughed for like 10 minutes straight!

For a sec I thought you meant he played
"The Sounds of Science", by the Beastie Boys, during Blakes Funeral.

Maybe during Dr. Manhattan's autobiography or making love in the Own Ship, but please, not Blakes funeral!

The Simon and Garfunkel song at the Comedian's funeral was actually "Sounds of Silence", and although the song did not fit with the shots of the cemetery before the funeral began it did seem to go along with the film perfectly once the characters showed up for the funeral. However Jimi Hendrix's "All along the watchtower" seemed to come out of nowhere and did not suit the scenes in which it was used.
I also think that Snyder following the graphic novel closely hurt the film in that the screen play had moments where you knew what the characters said had to have been said in a comic book, and were not great for a movie.
